I hope you all are healthy. Know that you are in my prayers! As we navigate this new situation, you will learn how to use the Internet! What an adventure we are taking! I thought you might enjoy some activities using the skills we've learned in class! Reach out to me with any questions or concerns! But remember, there are no grades in specials during the remote learning experience! But you can learn while having fun and taking a break from your olther classes. Let me know what you are doing and how you like all this computer learning stuff!
Let me know how your are doing, share your projects--I'd love to hear from you!
As we wind down the year, it is a good time to practice your keyboarding and coding skills. Log on to Code.org; the 4th grade class code is XQHSPQ. If you need your personal secret words, email me at margaret@stmatts.org. Have some fun with an online typing game or Code.org!
Have you noticed that I link words all the the time to web pages and documents? These are called hyperlinks. You can make them too! Try it!
Happy Mother's Day-May 10, 2020!
Let's make a Mother's Day card using MS Word--or any word processor. I would rate my video as a B-Movie (meaning, not great!) because I had so many interruptions! I hope you will muddle through it and make a beautiful card for your Mom-or whoever provides that love and support in your family! No every "Mom" has to be a "Mom"; it could be an aunt, uncle, sister, brother, grandmother, grandad, or you dad! Honor that person that loves and cares for you!
I have posted three files to help you: a video, written instructions, and a sample card:
How to make a card video
Written instructions to make a card

WEEK OF APRIL 27
This week you are in for some fun! How do you make a word cloud? Hey, what is a word cloud? Have you ever seen words jumbled up in a group? That is a word cloud. Watch a video about hardware and software from Code.org and make a list of 10 words you hear in the video. Click on the instructions, with an example, and make a word cloud. Also posted is a demonstration following those instructions. Have fun and let your imagination guide you! I would love to see your word clouds! Have your parents send me yours in an email!

Hope you are still working on that Newsletter! Make one for each week or month of school. Use it to display information you have learned in Social Science, History or Religion. By creating a newsletter, you will be learning the concepts you write about! How about take a break this week. Continue the Newsletter or have some fun with keyboard games! Here is a selction:
This week we are going to use many of the skills we know and learn some new skills to create a newsletter. A newsletter is a great way to share information with your teammates, family or other groups. It's also a good way to track events. Maybe you could try to make a newsletter to help you remember what you did during the quarantine of 2020!
