The 7th Grade Language Arts Program includes reading both fictional and non-fictional work. Students also partake in integrated grammar instruction through direct and indirect instruction. Students further examine issues of justice and prejudice by applying Catholic Social Teachings culminating in an end-of-novel project.
Class Novels- We will provide digital copies of the novels but you are more than welcome to purchase your own phsycial copies of the novels.
7th graders will participate in History Day. While the project will be mainly done outside of class, inportant aspects of the project will be covered in class and count for indiviual grades aside from the final project grades. Students will maintain a binder for their project separate from their daily required materials. More information will be sent out when we begin. Please feel free visit the National History Day website to familarize yourself with the theme and rule book. You may also begin thinking about topics that fit with the theme. Please keep in mind that topics should be of events in history and not preferably not still happening. Topics can be from any time period and from anywhere, from local, state, national, or any nation(s) around the world.
"Texas History Day provides a framework for successful student projects. Each student bases their project on the same annual theme and rule book. Students choose historical topics related to a theme and conduct extensive primary and secondary research at libraries, archives, museums, historic sites, and more. Projects are not limited to any particular time period or geographic area. After analyzing and interpreting their source material, create a plan to present their findings to the peers and teachers before moving on to regional, state, and possibly national contests. Students can create and present original research papers, exhibits, performances, websites, and documentaries."
