Fr. Dennis graduated from J.W. Nixon High School in Laredo in 1981 and from the University of Notre Dame in 1985 with a B.A. in Music, piano performance. While a Junior at Notre Dame he joined the Congregation of Holy Cross as a seminarian. Upon completing two years towards a Master of Divinity degree at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, California, Fr. Dennis left the seminary and worked as a teacher for eight years in San Antonio beginning in 1988. He taught one year at Holy Cross High School, six years at St. Cecilia’s School, and one year as a 4th grade teacher in a public school in the S.A.I.S.D. He was the Director of Music for St. Cecilia’s parish for seven years and briefly worked in marketing for Sosa & Associates.
In 1996 he resumed his studies for the priesthood and was ordained as a diocesan priest for the Archdiocese of San Antonio on May 27, 2000. He served as a parochial vicar at San Fernando Cathedral for two years; and for eight years he served as the pastor of St. Monica Catholic Church in Converse. Fr. Dennis became the pastor of St. Matthew Catholic Church in June of 2010.
