A Valley girl raised in Rio Grande City, Texas, Roni Stach has been a teacher for over 30 years. After graduating from UTSA, she took her 1st job teaching at Blessed Sacrament Catholic school where she taught math, led the Spirit Squad, directed the handbell choir, headed several school musicals and led one of two groups of students chosen for a production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat”, hosted by the Majestic Theatre here in San Antonio. (The other group was St. Matthew!)
After taking a 2-year sabbatical, Mrs. Stach returned to education, serving as part of the counseling department for Navarro Alternative High school with SAISD. She left that position after 4 years to move to her current home, St. Matthews Catholic School. As much as she enjoyed her time with the students at Navarro, she missed having God as part of the school's curriculum even more.
Now in her 12th year here at SMCS, she serves as the General Music teacher for PK - 5th Grade, Director for the school's Handbell Choir, Director of the Cardinal Choir that leads our weekly school liturgies, and an Instructor of of the school's extra-curricular guitar program.
Mrs. Stach just celebrated her 36th wedding anniversary to Brad Stach and has one son Jonathon. They attend Blessed Sacrament parish where both she and her son serve as Music directors and her husband serves as Sacristan. One of Mrs. Stach's many sayings is “Show your Cardinal Spirit!" making sure your spot in the world shows kindness and love. While she will never claim to be perfect, she works her best to make sure her "spot" at St. Matthew is an example of that while encouraging others to do the same.
