Click for Distance Learning Mrs. Tipps started her career in Real Estate appraisal in San Angelo, Texas. After teaching in the adult education program at Angelo State University, she became a member of the faculty in the finance department. When her husband, Stephen, took a job with the IT department at Church’s Chicken headquarters, the couple moved to San Antonio. Mrs. Tipps worked for real estate related companies in San Antonio and developed several computer tools for her employers.
Mrs. Tipps was hired at St. Matthew Catholic School for the 1997-1998 school year to develop computer resources for teachers and students and to set up and run the new Windows based computer lab. Her duties eventually grew to include teaching Computer Literacy in grades 2nd through 8th grades. Currently, Mrs. Tipps' teaching assignment is 6th-8th grades. Mrs. Tipps leads the weekly Rosary group started by Mrs. Bloom several years ago, and manages the Accelerated Reader computer program as well as other duties requested by the school. Mrs. Tipps also offers workshops on various computer programs to the teachers, and introduced and managed the Box Top/Campbell fundraiser programs.
Mrs. Tipps has a Masters of Land Economics from Texas A & M University and a BBA in Finance from Angelo State University. Mrs. Tipps has 18 hours of Computer Applications and programming from the Alamo Community College System and Texas State University Graduate School. She has 18 graduate hours in Education also from Texas Stat, and she has completed the Archdiocesan approved course for non-Religion teachers.
Mr. and Mrs. Tipps began attending St. Matthew Catholic Church in 1985. They have two children who attended the school, Marie and Patrick. Before becoming faculty and since, the Tipps’ have been active in St. Matthew Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts; as a homeroom parent; supporter of the athletic program and go-to for many computer application issues at the church and school. The St. Matthew community is home and family to the Tipps.
