Your gift is an important source of funding for valuable programs at St. Matthew Catholic School. Fundraising contributions keep tuition lower and provide a tax-deductible way to support our school.
We are pleased that through diligent effort, the tuition to attend St. Matthew Catholic School adequately covers the operating expenses of our school. However, we want to do more than just operate, we strive to provide our students the best environment in which to excel! We plan for and use tuition dollars to sustain our operations, but fundraising dollars provide us with the ability to offer enhancements to our curriculum by upgrading technology, plan community building events, and provide improvements to our classrooms and building.
Why doesn’t St. Matthew just raise tuition for the additional support?
We want Catholic education to be accessible to as many families as possible. By keeping our tuition costs down and the increases to a minimum, we remain an option for families across the city. In addition, contributions made to the school above and beyond tuition are considered donations, which offer parents the additional benefit of a tax deduction.
How do I make a donation to the school?
You can make a financial contribution to St. Matthew Catholic School any time throughout the year by sending it to: St. Matthew Catholic School, Development Office, 10703 Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78230. If you have any questions about making a donation to the school, please contact the Development Office at (210) 478-5084.
Can I choose how my donation is used?
Yes! You may indicate how you would like for your donation to the school to be used. During Spirit Week, you may choose from several different options provided on the giving envelope or indicate that you would like for your donation to go toward the area of greatest need. Whenever or however you make your donation, the school will work hard to fulfill your request.
What is a matching gift and how does it work?
A matching gift, also known as a matching fund or matching donation is a charitable gift made toward a non-profit organization by a matching donor (usually an employer) when an employee makes a gift to that organization. In San Antonio there are many companies who match contributions to our school when one or more of their employees makes a contribution. The process is very simple. The employee makes a contribution to St. Matthew and then submits their company’s Matching Gift Form to the appropriate person in the company. The company will then send the school a check to our school matching the amount of the original gift.
May I request that my gift remain anonymous?
Yes, you may choose to make your gift anonymously. When you provide your contribution to St. Matthew Catholic School, please let us know that you would prefer to make your donation anonymously. We will be happy to honor your request.
Is my donation, or gift, tax-deductible?
Yes, St. Matthew Catholic School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and as such, your contribution is tax-deductible.
